This is urine collected from our hutch of agouti rabbits. It comes in a one liter reusable container of concentrated soluble plant food. A 1/2 liter of rabbit urine has the same nutrient value as a 4 1/2 liters of petroleum based fertilizer solution. 1 Liter of YURN is $20 Cdn
Instructions: Dilute YURN. 1 part YURN to 10 parts water to apply to plants. Suggested application rate = 1 gallon of diluted Yurn per 3 square feet.
Material Profile: This filtered rabbit urine is about 85% water, 2% nitrogen, 2% phosporous, 2% potassium, plus 1% calcium, 2 % magnesium & sulphur with a pH of 7.5
Usage: Application rates and frequency are the same as any foliar fertilizer and dependant on the plants grown.
Alt. Usage: This can be used as a pesticide as well. The dilution rate would be 1 part Yurn to 2 part water as a foliar spray application for such things as white fly, cabbage moth/worm, flea beetle and perhaps aphids. CAUTION: they will repel bees too … so if you need them as pollinators for your plants, be mindful of your timing.
Note: YURN won’t deter slugs.

- This study confirms African farmers’ assertions about using rabbit urine to manage Fall Army Worm. To quote, “Rabbit urine is commonly used as a biopesticide against devastating crop pests and pathogens.”
- This study recommended that rabbit urine should be applied to tomato in addition to recommended dose of NPK fertilizer in regard to tomatoes being grown in Nigeria. Also, “Rabbit urine may be a suitable alternative to chemical fertilizers since it poses minimal risks to the ecosystem while still providing the essential nutrients needed for adequate plant growth.”
- Effects of Rabbit Urine and Urea Fertilizer on the Growth and Yield Performance of Amaranthus This study determined “In general, the application of organic fertilizer improves root system and plant stems better than chemical fertilizers.”
- The Effect of Rabbit Urine Fertilizer Application on the Growth of Water Spinach This study declares that “when compared to other grass-eating animals, rabbit urine has high levels of nitrogen due to its habit of never drinking water and only consuming forage.” “It is for this reason that many people trade liquid waste from rabbit livestock as super liquid organic fertilizer.”
- Application of Green Manure and Rabbits Urine Affect Morphological Characters of Sweet Corn Plant This study shows that “the content of rabbit urine fertilizer is 2.72% nitrogen, 8.7% phosphorus, 2.3% potassium, 3.6% sulfur, 1.26% calcium and 4.0% magnesium.” Further, “dosage best with giving of rabbit urine is K3 = 60 ml / liter of water.”
- Rabbit urine as a biopesticide and biofertilizer. This study states, “In short, rabbit urine is a readily available source of nitrogen that smallhold farmers with rabbits can utilize to increase plant productivity at a rate comparable to synthetic commercial fertilizers that have a larger environmental impact. However, the amount needed is large and the urine may be best suited as a complementary source of nitrogen for small scale farmers and not as the primary source, unless the farm have a large number of rabbits available.”
